Multi-Country Gas Infrastructure Maintenance Management

Across a multi-country energy group, maintenance had to operate as one capability without erasing the local languages, interfaces and organizational requirements that keep each infrastructure company moving. The programme established a reusable SAP-based maintenance template, connected enterprise processes and shared operational data, creating a common foundation for more consistent, risk-informed gas infrastructure maintenance.

From fragmented maintenance systems to a reusable operating model for gas infrastructure
目的
The initiative set out to standardize asset management and maintenance across participating infrastructure companies while retaining the languages, interfaces and organizational requirements needed for local operations. It also aimed to move maintenance from fragmented, reactive activity toward a more risk-, condition- and data-informed model, so scarce field and maintenance capacity could be directed to the interventions with the greatest operational relevance.
機会
The reusable foundation creates a path to extend common maintenance ways of working across additional gas transmission operations. By bringing asset condition, work requirements and enterprise process information into a shared model, the group can continue strengthening prioritization, traceability, support and future evolution without rebuilding the capability country by country.
Aligning a shared model with operational reality

The challenge was not simply to deploy technology. The initiative had to create a common maintenance core that could absorb local variation, connect distributed information and carry trusted priorities into field execution.

主な課題

1: Local operating variation
The common model needed to support different languages, interfaces and organizational requirements without losing the consistency required for multi-country reuse.

2: Fragmented applications and processes
Separate maintenance solutions and disconnected enterprise processes increased complexity and made common support and evolution harder.

3: Distributed asset evidence
Asset condition, criticality, failure signals and work requirements were spread across systems, formats and organizational teams and needed to be used consistently.

4: Priorities that must reach the field
The initiative required traceability from operational evidence and risk-based priorities through planning, intervention and asset decisions.
解決策
A reusable maintenance core connected end to end

NTT DATA combined the maintenance platform with enterprise integration, data-informed prioritization, planning and ongoing service capabilities to create an operational chain from evidence to action.

チェックアイコン
Common SAP PM template

A simplified SAP PM maintenance template was implemented for reuse across participating companies, supporting multilingual operation and external interfaces.

チェックアイコン
Integrated enterprise processes

The solution connected maintenance with SAP MM, FI, CO and PS processes, together with reporting technologies, to support a more coherent operating model.

チェックアイコン
Shared decision workflow

Relevant asset and operational data was brought into a common workflow, where analytical or rules-based logic could identify priorities while preserving the link to underlying evidence

Planning, hosting and evolution

Insights were connected with planning and maintenance execution, while cloud hosting and ongoing support and evolution services sustained the deployed capability.

影響
A stronger foundation for proactive maintenance

The programme established a reusable maintenance template for gas infrastructure operations, supporting greater process consistency between countries, a simpler application support and evolution model, and closer integration between maintenance and enterprise processes. The resulting capability also provides a common basis for more proactive maintenance, clearer prioritization and stronger operational visibility across participating companies.
